Points of Interest
Points of Interest is a dry, articulate, and lengthy work on the finer points of grammar, written by a meticulous cleric of Deneir. It was written over a thousand years ago and quickly forgotten.
The volume has recently resurfaced as a teaching tool among scholars and linguists. Written in Thorass, the common language of the time, it was mainly ignored by the cleric’s contemporaries, but it has proven to be a surprisingly valuable tool for learning fluency in the language. With notes and explanations added in Common and expurgations of the more obsolete and esoteric portions made by modern scholars, it has become the definitive tool for serious study of Thorass in Nimbral and Halruaa.
Points of Interests grants a DC 20 Lore check for linguistical questions in Thorass, but the reader must already be fluent. It grants a DC 17 check to those with some Thorassian familiarity and no benefit to readers who lack understanding of the language. Due to the dense nature of the writing, all research times are doubled.
